New Delhi: In a landmark judgement, the Supreme Court on Friday gave the voters the right to negative voting. In essence, the voters can now reject all the candidates and choose the button that says 'None of the above’. The ruling came in a Public Interest Litigation. The court has asked the Election Commission to implement the order with immediate effect. This means that the option will come into effect in the elections to the five states due this November. Analysts say that the option will give a message to political parties, but it will not lead to either negating or re-election in case the option to negative voting garners maximum number of votes.
