Landlord rapes 5-year-old girl Vijayawada: A five-year-old girl was raped by a man at Bodapadu village in Payakapuram police station limits. Though the incident occurred on September 24, the incident came to light only when the parents complained to the police on Thursday. Payakapuram CI J. Nageswara Rao, said the victim’s parents were staying in a rented house at Bodapadu village. The house owner Nagaraju, 43, working in a saw mill lured the girl to the terrace of the building by offering to play with her and raped her. When the girl started bleeding, the child’s mother questioned the girl, and came to know about the heinous act committed by the house owner. Though the incident occurred on September 24, the parents of the girl were initially hesitant to lodge a complaint with the police. However, they lodged a complaint on Thursday. The police booked a case, and the accused has been arrested. Earlier based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s parents a case under section 498A for dowry harassment was registered on Hasim and he was arrested on September 20 and also sent to judicial remand. The cops now alerted the case to section 304B of the IPC for dowry death and are investigating. However, the victim kept rejecting his proposal and was reportedly very upset by his behaviour. After completing her degree, Ambika moved to her sister’s house in the city to pursue chartered accountancy. But Chandrashekar continued harassing her through text messages. He would even call her on her mobile at odd times during night, the police said. The victim initially ignored his talk of marriage, but when the pestering got worse, Ambika started avoiding Chandra shekar’s calls. She also refused to provide him the details regarding her Bengaluru address. On Tuesday, Chandra shekar allegedly sent multiple text messages and made many attempts to contact Ambika on phone, but did not get any response. Frustrated by her act, he reportedly managed to trace her Bengaluru address and landed up there on Tuesday afternoon, the police said. He tried to seek the approval of the victim’s mother to marry Ambika. When Ambika’s mother and sister refused and warned him of dire consequences, Chandrashekar reportedly threatened them that he would disfigure Ambika’s face so badly that nobody would want to marry her. After this he allegedly pulled out a knife from his pocket and slashed the left side of Ambika’s face. Deranged with anger, Chandrashekar allegedly stabbed Ambika multiple times in the back, throat and chest. The victim’s shocked mother and sister tried to nab the accused, but he managed to escape from the house, leaving Ambika in a pool of blood. She was immediately rushed to St John’s Hospital and was hospitalised. The South-East division police, who have registered a case, are on the lookout for Chandrashekar. “He is a native of Neesandra village in Kolar. The police team recovered 1,000 kg ganja from the gangsters after chasing their vehicle on the Outer Ring Road near Pedda Amberpet at around 7 am. The cops said the gang was trying to smuggle a tonne of Marijuana from Odisha to Shirdi in a van. The arrested men are Gore Veeresh Goud, 35, a realtor, Burra Venkatesh Goud, 27, a driver, Mohd. Jani, 22, a driver, and Boya Ravi, 29, all from Thippaya Gudem village, of Ranga Reddy district. SOT officials said that Veeresh Goud used to smuggle ganja from Odisha to Maharashtra and had used the money for the panchayat election to ensure the victory of his candidate. The police said that Veeresh had struck a deal with a person in Shirdi to supply ganja, and was smuggling it from the Palakamidi agency area of Odisha. “He used to smuggle ganja from Odisha to Maharashtra twice or thrice in a month since the last two years, and used to get commission for that,” a SOT official said. On Thursday morning, after receiving a tip-off, the policechased the van having the registration number AP 24X4533, and checked it. The Marijuana worth '60 lakh was kept in a secret compartment of the vehicle, police said. The gangsters were handed over to the Hayathnagar police for further action.
