Two days after the sensational murder of Deepak Bhardwaj, a BSP leader and a billionaire businessman, the Delhi police detained six prime suspects from Haryana. A source close to the investigation team revealed that suspects, identified as Rakesh, Purshottam, Sunil, Varinder, Anil and Dharamvir, were picked up from Haryana. The police has recovered a Skoda and a Santro car used in the commission of crime from the Jind district in Haryana. The police source said that Rakesh, who originally hails from Samalkha village near Sonepat in Haryana, is a contract killer. “Purshottam bought the Skoda car used in the commission of crime from Rohtak around two weeks ago. He bought the car in the name of another suspect Sunil, a resident of Bahadurgarh. Purshottam gave the car to Rakesh to execute the entire operation. Monu, another associates of Rakesh, was also involved in the crime. Monu is absconding,” said the source. The assailants had conducted a recce of the farmhouse before committing the crime, the source said. “Three-four persons entered the farmhouse in a Skoda car and shot Bhardwaj dead. A backup team was also there in a Santro car to assist them in case of any need. They had planned to flee in the Santro car if they faced resistance,” said the police source. The source further said that another three suspects Varinder, Anil and Dharamvir were picked up from Khera village by another police team. A raid was carried out at a house of one Narinder of Bakshi Mohalla in Jind, which led the police to the three suspects. The police recovered the Santro car from them. DCP (south) Chhaya Sharma said that investigations into the case are on and the police has made no arrests. “We questioned Ramesh Kumari, the wife of Bhardwaj, and his sons who are living separately. A property dispute might be the reason. However, we are probing the case from all angles. A female employee of Bhardwaj is also under scanner,” DCP Sharma said. The police is conducting further raids in Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
