Following the recommendation of the Veterinary Commission of the Turf Authorities of India, the Mysore mid-season races scheduled to be held on Monday, July 22, and Tuesday, July 23, are likely to be cancelled due to outbreak of strangles — a contagious upper respiratory tract infection — in the stables, which had delayed the Hyderabad racing season earlier by a few weeks. Mysore Race Course officials reported that about 12 horses were affected by the strangles but they have recovered after treatment. The start of the Mysore main season will also be delayed as the first two day’s races stands cancelled. Nearly one month’s racing in Mysore is likely to be affected due to this.
