The Matunga police registered a case against three minor girls and an unidentified boy for allegedly manhandling and assaulting another girl from SNDT College on Tuesday evening. The three girls are the victim’s classmates, while the boy is their friend. The tiff took place over a college project, which the victim was reportedly refusing to share with the other girls. All the girls are Arts students of Class 11 and were assigned a class project in a social sciences subject. The police said the victim had completed her assignment, which the girls wanted her to share with them. “They had been asking her give them her project copy and help them with theirs, which she had been refusing. There was also a major argument a few days amongst the girls. On Tuesday, the accused asked her to come down, when she was in the college building, promising to end the fight and reach a compromise. However, the girls and the boy then started assaulting her. The victim has also claimed in her statement that the accused attacked her private parts,” said a police official from Matunga police station. The girl was then taken to Sion Hospital, where she was given preliminary medical treatment. Medical reports, however, ruled out serious injuries and damage to private parts. “We have registered a complaint based on the girl’s statement, however, no arrests have been made,” said senior police inspector, S.L. Parab of Matunga police station. The victim is a resident of Antop Hill and lived with her grandparents.
