Telefunken triumph

Telefunken Club won a keenly-contested final against Rudra Sports, Ghaziabad, by nine runs to clinch the 4th All India Manoj Singh Memorial cricket tournament at the Nehru Stadium in Ghaziabad on Tuesday. The match was a high-scoring affair with close to 500 runs being scored but the Telefunken boys managed to hold on to their nerves for a memorable win.

Telefunken Club won a keenly-contested final against Rudra Sports, Ghaziabad, by nine runs to clinch the 4th All India Manoj Singh Memorial cricket tournament at the Nehru Stadium in Ghaziabad on Tuesday. The match was a high-scoring affair with close to 500 runs being scored but the Telefunken boys managed to hold on to their nerves for a memorable win. Batting first, Telefunken Club posted 245/6 in 40 overs with Delhi Ranji player Yogesh Nagar contributing 66. Vikas Hathwala (59) and Gaurav Kochar (57) also played handy knocks and supported Nagar well. Rishit Saini (4/33) was the most successful bowler for Rudra Sports and kept the Telefunken batsmen under check with a tight spell. In reply, Rudra Sports were in contention till the end. Their batsmen were led brilliantly by Mobin Ahmed (80), who emerged the highest scorer in the match. Rahat Elahi contributed 66 but Rudra Sports failed to close out the game and fell short by nine runs. Ankit Dabas claimed 2/50 and Hathwala, who had earlier hit a half century, rounded off the day with an all-round show taking 2/58. The winners pocketed '1 lakh while the runners-up were awarded '51,000. Ahmed, who finished on the losing side in the final, was declared the best batsman while Hathwala was named the best all-rounder. Kochar got the award for best batsman.
