Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting’s retirement brings to an end the era of Australian domination of world cricket. Ponting led Australia between 2002 and 2011, guiding the side to two World Cup successes in 2003 and 2007. Ponting has been one of the world’s top three batsmen over the past two decades, alongside Tendulkar and Brian Lara. With more than 13,000 runs in his kitty, Ponting is the second-highest run scorer after Sachin Tendulkar. Australian cricket will miss this great player.
