Lawyer files case against Dy SP CBI

An advocate on Thursday filed a complaint against K. Babu, the deputy superintendent of police, CBI, for allegedly misbehaving with him and doubting the credibility of the magistrate court’s order that was passed on December 4. Advocate Ashish Giri had filed a private complaint in the metropolitan magistrate court, on behalf of activist Abdul Malik Chaudhary in January 2011, in the Adarsh case. Mr Chaudhary had filed a private complaint against the accused involved in the case, stating that apart from the HC proceedings, a criminal case should be initiated against the accused. The court had then directed the CBI to file a report seeking its reply to the private complaint. However, the agency made no efforts to remain present before the court on the given occasion. Finally, on December 4, the court issued a letter to the CBI, Mumbai stating that it should file its report on January 22 and inform the court about its views on the initiation of criminal proceedings against the accused. Advocate Giri said, “When I went to the CBI to submit the letter, I met Mr Babu and informed him about the letter. However, instead of accepting the letter, he misbehaved with me. He quizzed me with questions like what is the locus standi of the complainant to file the complaint. Mr Babu further questioned the sanctity of the metropolitan court asking as to who the court was to pass such an order.” When contacted, Mr Babu did not respond to the calls or messages, which were sent by this correspondent.
