Author Chetan Bhagat is proud and humble at the same time with the response that his books get. He confesses that he never aspired to write books so that films can be made out of them, but it just happened. “I am happy that I have been able to reach across to so many people in the country with my books and their film adaptations,” he says. And now that it has happened, he wants to take it to another level. Now, after ruling the hearts of the urban youth, he wants to tap the rural India. “I want to know the other India that exists and then write about it,” says that writer, who was in the capital to announce his association with National Geographic and Ford India’s My Endeavour Alterrain — a new adventure driving series, in which he will be travelling from Ahmedabad to Junagarh. He says that through this series, he is not just making a TV debut but also an attempt to understand those parts of India that he doesn’t know properly. “During my expedition, I want to go and interact with the rural and tribal communities and understand their problems and life. The books that have I written till now cover varied subjects but don’t touch that part of the country. I know it’s very ambitious of a writer to cover every region, but I want to give it a try,” he remarks and says that he has had a tryst with small-town India few times when he went there for talks. Besides this, Chetan is also looking forward to the release of the film Kai Po Che that is an adaptation of his book Three Mistakes of My Life and working on the script of the Salman Khan starrer Kick, based on Two States.
