Disclosing that interrogation of Tunda has also revealed his nexus with Pakistan’s ISI operatives in Bangladesh, authoritative security sources in the ministry of home affairs said that he was using Assam as transit point to cross over to Bangladesh. Informing that Tunda has strained his relationship with Lashkar-e-Tayyaba, security sources said that of late he was operating from Bangladesh and Nepal with the operatives of Pakistan’s ISI. Security sources claimed that Tunda has not been working for the LeT at least for past two years. Clarifying that security agencies have not come across any subversive plan of Tunda to target India’s North-east, security sources said that it was a deliberate strategy of ISI not to indulge in any subversive activities in the region to use its proximity and porous border with Bangladesh. The 70-year-old bomb expert in his confession admitted to have entered and taken shelter in Assam and other northeastern states more than once. Informing that Tunda was also instrumental in setting up a new wing Tanzeen-e-Mohammedi specially to create unrest in the North-east and the districts of Bengal bordering Bangladesh, security sources said that security agencies have extracted some vital connections in Assam and other northeastern states, which are being investigated. Pointing out that Tunda was also using Assam and West Bengal to pump in fake currency smuggled from Bangladesh to India, security sources said that fake currencies of India are printed in Pakistan. In a major breakthrough, security agencies in an operation had arrested Tunda somewhere near the Nepal border recently.
