Chinese delights, now on speed dial

Lodged amidst plush cafes, lounges and fine-dining options in Kailash colony market, a youthful and ‘fun’ Asian joint, does catch your attention! If not for anything else, then for the simple setting in white and orange. Speedy Chow, as the name suggests is a place meant for a quick Chinese or Thai meal, where you can place your order and pick it up from the counter within 10 minutes flat owing to a self-service model. With nominal pricing, where a meal for two can be well within '500, the joint plans to cater to all sections of society. The signature dish of the place is the Khao Suey, served in three varieties — vegetarian, chicken and shrimp. A complete meal in itself, that has noodles and veggies or shrimp in a coconut milk based sauce, with hints of lemongrass and basil is refreshing. The slight sweetness of the dish might catch you a bit off-guard, but a pinch of chilli paste sauce can perk it up! While the place has veggies, chicken and shrimps in all regular Chinese sauces, like black bean, schezwan and garlic sauce, the chilli Hoisin sauce is a novelty with its smoky flavour and strong hint of pepper. We also recommend the Thai basil chicken and Mr Chow hot rice for their distinct flavour and aroma. The soups were not that great, with a strong smell of soya sauce and vinegar, suppressing the actual flavour and tasting a little too sour for our palate. The place is a popular choice for takeaway and home delivery for the expats residing in the neighbourhood localities. We finished off the meal with a lovely caramel cake slice, that was soft, fluffy and immensely satisfying. Served hot, with extra caramel sauce, the dessert was a perfect end to our gluttonous adventure! Go there if you give priority to food over ambience!
