With Bollywood turning hundred, many seem to have been rubbed by the filmy charm. This time, capital’s socialites to celebrated “100 years of Bollywood”. Artist Anjanna Kuthiala and socialite Vandy Mehra of Study By Janak collaborated for a fashion-filmy bash in the city at the residence of the Danish ambassador, Freddy Svane recently where the capital’s glitterati portrayed their favourite Bollywood stars. Cricketer Atul Wassan donned the look of Amitabh Bachchan, model Amanpreet Wahi played Deepika Padukone and Jattinn Kochhar portrayed Aamir Khan. Anjanna said Bollywood has always inspired her. “If something has so much importance in your life, you need to celebrate it with élan,” says Anjanna, who herself was successful in creating Rekha look and managed to get many compliments through the evening. There were many more looks that worked. Like, filmmaker Bobby Khan did total justice to Dabangg’s Salman Khan. Bobby said that he flew down from Mumbai especially for this show. “Even the uniform and the name plate was created just for this. It feels good to do something different than usual,” says Bobby. There were some surprises too, as some unexpected people including Ala and Rajan Madhu and Sanjay Sharma turned up for a ramp stint. Ala Madhu, who was happy to get in to the Mumtaz look, said it was an exhilarating experience. “I enjoyed it to the fullest,” she says and adds that she watched a few movies starring Mumtaz to get the act right. While most of them enjoyed their first stint on the ramp, some even got cold feet. Designer Monisha Bajaj says, “I almost walked the ramp in Sharmila Tagore look, but at the last minute I got stage frightened and backed out.” However, the winning performance that set the mood right for the rest of the evening came from the younger lot, Vandy Mehra’s son and daughter — Angel and Ayush Mehra and actor and model Rahil Tandon’s energy-pumping ramp stint on Radha Teri Chunri... from Student of the Year.
