Nellore: Former Congress corporator and whip in Nellore civic body Sannapareddi Penchal Reddy lambasted the ruling party and opposition leaders for paying special attention to the release of Jagan and ignoring the plight of the employees in strike since two months. Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, he alleged that the leaders of almost all the political parties failed to gauge the mood of the people of Seemandhra and they will have to pay heavy price for ignoring their sentiments. He stressed that the sympathies of people are with the NGOs and employees fighting to keep the state united. Pointing to the backing of CPI, BJP, TDP, Congress and TRS to the Telangana agitation in the past, he reminded that there is no political party, except people, behind the ongoing agitation in Seemandhra against bifurcation. Referring to recent sanction of Rs 2.19 lakh crore for IT investment region at Hyderabad by the Union government, he said that it was a deliberate move at a time when state was boiling over division issue. He slammed the Seemandhra ministers in the Union cabinet for giving their nod for the project and added that it was an insult to the people of Seemandhra. He said that people’s representatives have failed to measure up to the expectations of those elected them to protect their interests. He took strong objection to the hue and cry being raised by Telugu Desam and its chief Chandrababu Naidu’s over bail given to Jagan ignoring the volatile atmosphere in Seemandhra. He advised all the political parties to prepare an agenda to support the agitation and keep the state united. Penchal Reddy, who is also the president of State Edible Oil Dealers Welfare Association, said that the business community is totally supporting the agitation and they are ready to help the employees in strike in whichever the way they need. He gave away Rs 25,000 each to the families of teacher Sankara Yadav and RTC employee Somasekhar Raju, who passed away recently, from his own funds on the occasion.
