The superstar-starrer, which was supposed to hit the screens on July 22, might be postponed again.

Rajinikanth’s fans are in for a disappointment. Kabali may not make it to theatres on July 22. According to insiders, the special effects for the movie are taking longer than expected despite all efforts — the film may not be ready for release on schedule. This is the third time that a release date has been announced for Kabali.

A source close to the project reveals, “Every effort is being made to ensure the film meets its release date. However, the film is not yet ready. And Rajini Sir is not back from the US.”

Apparently, the superstar is in the US for health reasons.

This is a setback and a disappointment not only for Rajini’s fans, but also for fans of Steven Spielberg’s cinema. According to sources in the know, Spielberg’s new film The BFG has been put on hold because of the uncertainty surrounding the release of Kabali.

Says a source, “Both Rajinikanth’s and Spielberg’s films are targeted at family audiences and dubbed in multiple Indian languages. Reliance, the producers and distributors of the Spielberg film are not taking any risks.

They will release The BFG on July 22 only if Kabali is postponed.”
