Mumbai: Rory Burns managed to turn our eyes around after a splendid 133 in the first innings of the first Ashes test. But his thunder was stolen by an Australian named as Steve Smith.

Burns still managed to find his way into the record books by becoming just the 10th player to bat on all five days of a Test match.

Although England lost the first Test by 251 runs, it was the innings by Rory Burns that set the tone for England. It was probably the only burning light in the England camp.
