Mahendra Singh Dhoni not to be a commentator in IND-BAN Day-Night Test match: report

Mumbai: As per a report in PTI, India’s veteran wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was reportedly said to make his debut as a commentator during the day-night Test match between India and Bangladesh, will not be making his debut as commentator for the second Test, which is scheduled to take place at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
A source close to Dhoni stated that there’s no way Dhoni would commentate during the second Test as it would lead to conflict of interest as per the current constitution.
“There is no way Dhoni can commentate”, the source told to PTI after being asked whether Dhoni would make his commentary debut.
Dhoni hasn’t played for India since India’s exited from the 2019 World Cup semi-final in July and he has opted out of the three T20I series, including the on-going series against Bangladesh. Ahead of the Bangladesh series, national chairman of selectors, MSK Prasad had stated the selectors have “moved on” from MSD.
“This is our clear thought process, that post World Cup we are focusing on Rishabh Pant only,” MSK Prasad stated.
After Prasad was once again questioned on Dhoni’ future in international cricket, the chief selector added, “I made it very clear post the World Cup that we are moving on. We are giving opportunities to youngsters and see that they establish themselves in the side. With Rishabh Pant doing so well and even Sanju Samson coming into the side, I am sure you must be understanding our thought process.”
