Mumbai: Indian women’s best performing star Smriti Mandhana has achieved what no other Indian batswoman has been able to achieve. She has managed to leave Indian men’s mercurial captain, Virat Kohli, behind to become the second-fastest Indian to reach 2000 one-day international runs.

She managed to break Kohli’s record during the recently concluded third ODI against West Indies on Wednesday which India won by six wickets. Mandhana’s 74-run innings helped India eves chase down the target without breaking a sweat.

The 23-year-old Mandhana took 51 innings to reach the landmark of 2000 ODI runs. Shikhar Dhawan is the fastest to reach 2000 runs as he took just 48 innings to reach here. Kohli reached this mark in 53 innings.

She also became the third-fastest woman to reach 2000 runs in ODI cricket after Australia’s Belinda Clark (41 innings) and Meg Lanning (45 innings). Retired South African batsman, Hashim Amla, is the fastest man to reach this mark. He achieved this in just 40 innings.
