Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named OPPO Mobiles India Private Limited as the new sponsor for the Indian Cricket Team.

The BCCI has signed a five-year contract with the mobile manufacturing giant which begins from April this year.

"The mobile manufacturing giant OPPO's association with BCCI will start from April 2017 for a period of five years," a BCCI release confirmed.

The Oppo will replace STAR India whose four-year contract with the country's cricket governing body will run out on March 31.

Star India, who took over as the Indian cricket team's sponsor in 2013 from Sahara, had earlier made it clear that it would not seek a renewal of its sponsorship deal.

As a result of a new deal which is likely to have gone beyond Rs 538 crore, the Oppo will get to have its commercial logo on both the men's and the women's kits.
