Kolkata: Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 102 runs to clinch their fifth win in the Indian Premier League.

It was a dominant show by the defending champions, who had earlier finished their innings at 210-6.

While Sunil Narine scored just four runs, the hosts had something to smile about as Chris Lynn (21) and Nitish Rana (21) produced cameo performances.

However, nothing seemed right for the hosts as wickets were collapsing like nine pins.

While Andre Russell and Rinku Singh departed for two and five respectively, Piyush Chawla (11) managed to score in double figures. Kuldeep Yadav (5 runs) was the last man to departs as MI completed a dominant win.

While the Pandya brothers-Hardik and Krunal- picked up two wickets each, the rest of the bowlers owned one wicket.

With this win, MI have 10 points in the IPL points table.

The visitors lost Evin Lewis (18) early. Suryakumar Yadav (36), too showed a fighting effort, but failed to continue his good run from the previous match.

However, Ishan Kishan was the hero for Mumbai as his 21-ball 62 powered the visitors past 100.

While Piyush Chawla got the wickets of openers Lewis and Suryakumar, Sunil Narine scalped the wicket of Ishan Kishan.

The big moment for Prasidh Krishna came when he got his first-ever IPL wicket by seeing off captain Rohit Sharma for 36.

However, this was followed by a cameo by Ben Cutting, but departed for 24. In the end, it was Krunal Pandya’s six that sealed a huge total for MI.

Toss update

Dinesh Karthik won the toss on Wednesday against Mumbai Indians and he put the visitors to bat.

For the hosts, Shubman Gill has been injured and Rinku Singh comes back. Mithell Johnson has made way for Tom Curran.

Meanwhile, MI have gone with the same eleven that beat KKR in Mumbai a few days back.

Here is the playing XI for both the teams:

Preview

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will hope for a turnaround when they host Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 41st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) here at Eden Gardens on Wednesday.

Just days after they suffered an unlucky 13-run defeat to the defending champions, the two teams go face to face once again, this time in the City of Joy.

Suryakumar Yadav (59 runs) was the star of the show last time at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and he is all but set to retain his place in the playing XI.

However, in the KKR camp, there could be rotation again, as Sunil Narine could be promoted back to the opening slot.

Shubman Gill opened the batting along with Chris Lynn last time around, and he just scored seven runs.

With the win on Sunday, MI extended their domination over KKR to 17 wins in 22 matches played overall between the two sides.

Interestingly, an MI win on Wednesday would mean that RCB’s playoff hopes would be all but over.
