David Warner opens up for the first time on leadership ban

Mumbai: Ever since returning to international cricket after serving his ban, David Warner endured a not-so-great start against England in Ashes 2019. But, since then, David Warner has turned the tide with some exceptional innings against Pakistan. His 335 not out in the second Test against Pakistan was one of the best innings ever produced by the bat of Warner.

Before the Ashes, he spent a year in the wilderness following the ball-tampering scandal and there were questions as to whether his days as an automatic choice at the top of the order were over. Apart from the one-year- suspension from international cricket, Warner was also handed a lifelong leadership ban by Cricket Australia (CA). This meant that he would never be able to hold a leadership position in the Australian cricket team.

David Warner has maintained absolute silence on the ban until now. Talking to FOX Sports, he opened up on his leadership ban. He said, " At the end of the day, you’ve just got to respect the decision and move on and get on with it. I haven’t looked back, I’ve just kept on looking forward. And my job is to come out and score runs."

He added," I didn’t do well in England but it’s about me trying to return to scoring runs and putting my best foot forward for the team."

Australia's next opponent will be their downstairs neighbours, New Zealand. The Kiwis are scheduled to visit the Aussies for a three-match Test series starting from 12th December and will continue up to next year.
