Mumbai: After suffering two consecutive defeats, Bangladesh will look to resume their World Cup campaign when they face an inconsistent Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

Bangladesh made a great start to their World Cup journey as they posted a huge total of 330-6 versus a struggling South Africa side which eventually lost the game by 21 runs.

However, in the next match the Tigers were not able maintain their winning run as they received a two-wicket loss by New Zealand followed by a huge a 106-run defeat to tournament favourites England.

In the batting section, wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim has been in good touch but openers Soumya Sarkar and Tamim Iqbal have squandered their opening starts.

World’s best all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, performed yet again, having already notched up two 50s and a 100 in the tournament, is expected to play the prime role again for his side.

However, Bangladesh's main issue lies in their bowling that failed to stop a formidable England side which amassed 386 easily.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will be optimistic after recovering from a humiliating 10-wicket defeat in their opening game versus New Zealand.

The Dimuth Karunaratne-led side defeated Afghanistan in a rain-affected game to get back into the title race but the one-time Wolrd champions were forced to share points with Pakistan after the match was abandoned due to heavy rain.

Sri Lanka's batting unit has failed to endure till the full 50 overs in both of the matches.

They gave away five wickets for 14 runs against the Kiwis and then seven wickets for 36 runs against Afghanistan and Karunaratne’s side will be alert of another middle-order batting collapse.

In the bowling section, Sri Lanka will miss pacer, Nuwan Pradeep’s services. Pradeep was the main figure in their win against Afghanistan as he scalped four wickets for 31 runs.

In his absence,Sri Lanka has no other choice but to rely heavily on Lasith Malinga to guide the team to victory.
