Mumbai: Ravi Shastri started off his stint as Team India head coach with a bang as Virat Kohli and Co. demolished Sri Lanka to complete 9-0 rout, winning three-match Test series 3-0, ODI series 5-0 and one off Twnety20.

While Team India are enjoying a solid run of form, Shastri has reportedly told the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators and Board of Control for Cricket in India CEO Rahul Johri that Indian cricketers and the team's support staff must be given adequate breaks.

India are back from the island nation and will commence the limited-overs series on September 17. Following the Australia series, India will take on New Zealand in three-match ODI and three-match Twenty20s.

“The international calendar is so tight these days and it's not only the matches that take a toll on players' body, but the long flights and travelling. Shastri has requested us to look into it, as he believes it would help players to recover faster. England and Australia give enough gaps between series and the BCCI too should have a plan where players can get a decent break and recover better. Otherwise, everyone is happy with the way how BCCI is taking care of its players,” the Indian Express quoted a BCCI source as saying.

“Such tight scheduling gives the players little time to recuperate,” concluded the report.
