Fielding worry for Aussies
Saker said fielding was going to play a big part in the series.
Chennai: Australia’s stand-in coach David Saker has asked his players to pull up their socks after their poor fielding performance against the Board President’s XI in the warm-up game on Tuesday.
“We really let ourselves down in the field,” cricket.com.au quoted Saker as saying. The Aussies spilled four straight-forward catches with the guilty parties being Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head and Adam Zampa.
Saker said fielding was going to play a big part in the series.
“We’ve talked about attitude and I think with fielding the big thing is attitude. I think if you bring the right attitude, generally you field quite well. It was disappointing that we dropped some catches. We took two or three really nice catches but we can't afford to be dropping four or five and missing run outs as well.
“Australian cricket does pride itself on being one of the best fielding teams in the world so we’ll keep working on that in the next few days,” he added.
