Mumbai: Steve Smith, who is in exceptional form, had recently taken an in-human catch to sent England’s Chris Woakes back into the pavilion. Smith, who amassed 751 runs in the on-going Ashes Test series, was standing at second slip when Woakes nicked a ball which went towards the Australian cricketer.

The Aussie then dived to his right and grabbed the ball with one hand. Following Smith’s sensational catch, current Australian captain Tim Paine described the top scorer of Ashes as a “freak” for pulling off the stunning catch.

"He's just a freak. We were actually chatting about it out there at one point about batsmen like him seem to always be in the game," stated the Australian skipper.

"Cricketers like him, I think Stokes is the same, they're just in the contest and in the game all the time whether they are at slip or at point or with the ball or with the bat."

"That's what makes great cricketers great because they're always in the contest, they're always aware of what's happening. It was a pretty special catch late in the day after he's been batting for seven weeks straight."
