Mumbai: Despite getting out on zero on Day 2 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh in Indore, Indian Captain Virat Kohli has the chance to break multiple records. Kohli, who is currently ranked number two in ICC’s Test batsman rankings, has the chance to surpass Australia’s former captain Ricky Ponting, who is second in the list of players with most Test centuries (19) as captain.

Currently, the Indian skipper is at the second place along with Ponting. However, if he manages to score a ton in the second Innings, the 31-year-old will surpass the ex-Aussie cricketer to become the second cricketer with most Test centuries as captain. Till now, former South African captain Graeme Smith is leading the list with 23 Test centuries as captain.

The Indian captain has also the chance to equalise Ponting’s record of tons as captain in all formats. As a captain, Ponting had scored 41 tons in all formats, while the Indian skipper has hit 40 tons in all formats.

Moreover, if Kohli manages to score 146 or above, the right-handed batsman will dethrone Sourav Ganguly, who amassed 7212 runs from 113 Test matches at an average of 42.17. Kohli, currently has 7066 runs in the longest format and is currently at the 7th position in the chart of Indian players with most Test runs.
