Ashwin wants at least 10 Test tons: Coach
Srinivasan, the 42-year-old Chennai-based coach, said Ashwin's new bat swing would add more power to his shots.
R. Ashwin’s new personal batting coach, P. Srinivasan, says the all-rounder has made a few technical changes in his batting. “He wants to end his career with at least 10 Test hundreds and an average of 45. Our relationship flourished when he started trusting me. He asks a lot of questions and believe me it’s not easy to convince him. His bat used to come from fine leg and he had to turn a bit to play on the leg side. We have worked on that and in the next series, his bat lift would come from the slip so that he can play more freely on the leg side,” he added.
Srinivasan, the 42-year-old Chennai-based coach, said Ashwin’s new bat swing would add more power to his shots. “He used to hit from a low base (less bat lift). We worked on 360 degree complete bat flow. The six he hit off Moeen Ali (in the recent England ODI series) resulted from his new batting avatar. You will see him hit more sixes in the coming days,” added Srinivasan.
