Mumbai: On Friday, the BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) chose Ravi Shastri to continue as the Indian cricket team coach. The committee consisted of Kapil Dev, Shantha Rangaswamy and Anshuman Gaekwad. This appointment will see Shastri’s contract extended for a two-year contract. He had taken over as head coach in 2017 on a two-year contract and was a direct entry in the interview process which took place on Friday.

On Saturday, BCCI released an exclusive video of Ravi Shatri talking about his reappointment as the head coach of the Team India. He also listed out the challenges and his future plans regarding the Indian team.

He says, “I first like to the CAC; Kapil, Anshu and Shantha for having the faith in me to continue for another 26 months. It's a privilege and an honour to be a part of the Indian team setup,"

He further speaks about the capacity of the team and how the Indian fielding has improved drastically over the years.

He says, “The reason why I came in was that I had the belief in this team that they could leave a legacy that very few teams have left behind in years to come. Over the last four-five years, the biggest improvement has been the fielding and the endeavour is to make this team, the best fielding side in the world."

The Kapil Dev-led CAC has also asked the BCCI to include them in the selection process of the support staff.
