Rizvi beat Jhunjhunwala to become champs

Rizvi College will now represent Mumbai and face off against five other cities in the Regional/zonal finals in April and May.

The Rizvi college team will now represent Mumbai in the zonal finals.

Rizvi College won the final match against Jhunjhunwala College by two runs to become the Mumbai city champions in Red Bull Campus Cricket 2018. Jhunjhunwala College won the toss and chose to field first. Chasing Rizvi’s 169 Jhunjhunwala College fell short as the man of the match Khizar from Rizvi College scalped five wickets.

Rizvi College will now represent Mumbai and face off against five other cities in the Regional/zonal finals in April and May. The top two teams from each zone will then compete in the National finals, where the teams will play in the knockout rounds of
quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals respectively.

The National winner will then represent India in the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Series Championship 2018.

Past winners from India that have gone on to represent the country at the World Championships are Rizvi College, Mumbai; DAV College, Chandigarh; Swami Shraddhanand College, Delhi and MMC College, Pune.

The global T20 college cricket tournament has added two new cities, Mysore and Raipur, to its roster and will witness the highest participation ever with over 250
colleges across 29 cities.

The Red Bull Campus Cricket city qualifiers took place simultaneously across 29 cities — including Mumbai, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Pune, Nagpur, Indore and Goa in the West — from March 12 to April 20.

Upon invitation, Jhunjhunwala College, Podar College, Dalmia College, Rizvi College, Patkar College, Khalsa College, MD College and Dhanukar College were the eight college teams which participated in the Mumbai city qualifiers at Vengsarkar Cricket Academy, Mahul, Chembur.
