Mumbai: Five-time World champions Australia on Tuesday defeated tournament favourites England by 64-runs to become the first team to quality for the 2019 World Cup semi-finals. This was England‘s two straight defeats. Before the match against Australia, the team lost against Sri Lanka by 20-runs.
England still continues to be at fourth after the loss, while the Australians have gone to the top with 12 points after three straight wins. Aaron Finch played a vital knock of 100 from 116 balls to help Australia post a decent total of 285-7.
Meanwhile, Twitterati congratulated the Australians for becoming the first team to reach the semis.
