Keeping family close
Cricketer Yuvraj Singh's impending wedding will have his dad, moms, brother and half-brothers, all attending the function.
Yograj Singh, the father of Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh would prefer to take a backseat at his son’s marriage with actress Hazel Keech. Explaining his stance, he reasons out, “Yuvraj’s wedding is on November 30, in a Gurdwara, which I would not be attending. Yuvraj is a son of this country and his father wants to remain in the backseat.”
In the conversation over telephone, from Chandigarh, he, however, quickly adds, “The reception is on 29th in Chandigarh, and I shall remain present on that day.”
It is a known fact that Yuvraj and his brother, Zoravar, were born in a Punjabi-Sikh family to Yograj Singh and Shabnam Singh. After the couple divorced, Yograj Singh married Meena Bhandal.
Having said that, the entire clan is all set to attend the wedding functions, together, as one big family.
“Yuvraj has invited all of us. He personally called and sent the invitation,” he comments. “What is there if he has two mothers or 10 mothers? Dil ke rishte kabhi nahi tutate, (relation from the heart never breaks).
After all, it is his family, and he has cordially invited all of us. I am sure my wife and two other children (son Victor Singh and daughter Amarjot Kaur) will attend all his functions,” added Yograj.
Yuvraj Singh family will also be hosting a reception in New Delhi on December 7, for which, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited. Incidentally, his mother, Shabnam, accompanied Yuvi to invite the PM personally, at his Delhi chamber, on Thursday.
Clarifying why he did not accompany Yuvraj to the PM’s office, Yograj says, “Two members of the family are enough to meet Modi ji. One day, I will meet him.”
Word has it that Yuvraj’s fiancé, Hazel and her family, are scheduled to arrive from London on Saturday. Talking about it, Yograj says, “Yuvraj’s fiancé, Hazel Keech, is welcome into our family, as a daughter.”
