BCCI trying to fix' the rift issue between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma: report
The BCCI will be meeting Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to address the issue.
Mumbai: Report of rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has been grabbing the headlines since India’s exit from the 2019 World Cup, but earlier, the reports have stated that the rift actually started after India’s loss to England during the league phase.
Later on, the reports have stated that Virat Kohli will not attend the pre-departure press conference before the West Indies tour, however, the BCCI cleared that Virat Kohli will be holding the press conference before departing for the West Indies tour.
Amidst the rumours, the BCCI has decided to interfere and resolve the issue as soon as possible. The BCCI will be meeting Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to address the issue. Rahul Johri, BCCI CEO will be flying to US next week. Speaking on the rift, a BCCI official stated to India Today, “In today’s age when support groups get involved, things can get messy. Both are mature individuals and things should be back on track after being spoken with.”
The report also indicated that the head coach will also be called to speak with the players since Ravi Shashtri was the coach when Dhoni passed on the baton of captaincy to Virat Kohli. Shashtri will be meeting the players and will be re-emphasizing the significance of dressing room atmosphere to the players concerned.
