Champs KSA launch title defence against MCA Colts

A total of 16 teams have been divided into four groups of four teams each for the tournament.

Defending champions Karnatak SA launched the defence of their title against MCA Colts in the opening Group-A league match of the prestigious ‘70th Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament’, at the KSA ground, Cross Maidan on Saturday. The Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. is the sponsor of this coveted tournament this year.

Meanwhile, hosts Mumbai Police will take on Sponsors XI (Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd) in a Group-C match at the Police Gymkhana.

A total of 16 teams have been divided into four groups of four teams each and the initial rounds will be played on a league basis at different venues. The league matches will be of 70 overs duration. 

The topper of each group will advance to the semi-finals, which will be played over two days. The winners will clash in the finals, which will consist of two innings each team and over three days. The first inning will be of 90 overs and the second innings will be of 40 overs.

All the matches are to be played as per the New Model Rules of the Mumbai Cricket Association.
