Impressive Badre Alam bowls Parkophene to 9-wicket win

Medium-pacer Badre Alam produced an impressive bowling performance finishing with match-winning figures of 7 for 22 to enable Parkophene Cricketers register a convincing 9-wicket win against Cricket Club of India on the first day of their two-match first round Group-D league match of the ‘70th Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament.’

The tournament, which is being sponsored by Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd., is being played at CCI ground.

Parkophene decided to field first after winning the toss and saw Alam rattle the CCI batsmen and bundle them out for a measly 51 in 17.5 overs. Alam was ably supported by Sagar Trivedi, who picked up the other three wickets for just 18 runs. In reply, Parkophene easily achieved the target with Salman Ahmad scoring an unbeaten 31 runs.

However, the highlight of the day was Harsh Tank, who is batting on an unbeaten 151 runs as Payyade Sports Club finished day one at 240 for 5 wickets in 52 overs against New Hind Sporting Club.

Tank scored his runs from 142 balls with 12 boundaries and six power-packed sixes during his 239 minutes at the crease.

Earlier, D. D. Padsalgikar, commissioner of police, Mumbai and chairman of the Police Shield Cricket Tournament inaugurated the tournament at the Police Gymkhana. Also present at the opening ceremony was Archana Tyagi, joint commissioner of police (Admn.), Mumbai, Deepak Patil, joint honourary secretary of Police Shield Tournament and MCA Officials.
