Kohli, Jadeja reach career-best in ICC Test rankings
Jadeja has jumped two spots to reach a career-best fourth spot after playing a crucial innings of 90 in Mohali.
Mumbai: Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli, who has been in a terrific form with the bat against England, moved up to a career-best third spot in the latest ICC Rankings for Test batsman. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja jumped to his career-best 4th position in the all-rounders rankings. Ravichandran Ashwin continues to lead the bowlers rankings.
The Indian batsman, who score 62 and six not out in Mohali jumped to the 3rd position with 883 points. Australian batsman Steve Smith continues to sit at the top, while English batsman Joe Root is at the second place, 14 points ahead of Kohli.
Kohli started the England series in the 15th position, his 405 runs in three Tests so far has allowed the batsman to climb the rankings quickly.
English wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow also achieved career-best rankings as he moved to the ninth spot, propelled by his knock of 89 in Mohali.
Ashwin still has the top spot as far as Test bowlers are concerned. Sri Lankan bowler Rangana Herath is in the second place. Australian Pacer Josh Hazelwood has moved into the top five for the first time, courtesy his six wickets against South Africa in Adelaide.
