New Delhi: Sahil Tavora’s double, including a 90th minute stunner, helped FC Goa down Chennaiyin FC 5-4 in a thrilling match of the Indian Super League Season 3 in Fatorda on Thursday.

In what was a battle of last year’s finalists and with both teams out of the semi-finals race, there was only pride at stake but the teams came up with superlative stuff.

Leading 3-2 till half time, Chennaiyin weathered a strong response from the hosts in the second half going down in a dramatic fashion.

Tavora, who had earlier brought the team back in the game with an equaliser, scored a stunner in the 90th minute to make it 5-4 in the hosts’ favour.

For Goa, Luiz (6th, 76th), Gonzalez (21st), Tavora (68th, 90th) were the goal scorers, while Chennaiyin FC’s response came from Lalrinzuala Khiangte (4th), Arnolin (own goal), Omagbemi (28th) and Riise (88th).

Kolkata face Pune
Former Atletico de Kolkata coach Antonio Habas will be in the opponents’ dug-out for the first time but the hosts will have nothing to worry as they meet FC Pune City in their final league clash of the Indian Super League Season 3 on Friday.

Habas had a successful two-year stint with Kolkata, where he handed them the title in the first season and took the team to semi-finals in the second. This season, Habas switched to FC Pune City but has failed to create the same magic.

Habas has nothing to win in Kolkata as Pune City are already knocked out, while Kolkata are in the playoffs.
