Rustomjee enters sponsorship agreement with MDFA

For the next five years, Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) will have Rustomjee as their prime sponsor.

The Association’s league will be renamed as the “Rustomjee Football League”. Each of the seven Divisions of the MDFA and any other additional division that may be instituted would also be renamed by Rustomjee as per their discretion and choice.

The league matches will be held across Mumbai at various grounds that are affiliated with the MDFA which include the football ground in Cooperage, St. Xavier’s Sports Complex football ground at Parel, Mumbai Football Arena in Andheri and Neville D’Souza ground at Bandra amongst others. Rustomjee will be free to conduct any promotional activities at these matches.

One of the first events which will be held under the aegis of this association is the YPL (Yuva President League) tournament which starts on 15th August 2018 and then will be played on 18th August 2018 and culminate on 26th January 2019 (a Sunday to Sunday event). The matches will be played at the Cooperage Ground and will include boys teams in the Under 16,14,12,10,8 age categories and girls teams in the Under 16 age category. A total of 100 teams have registered for the YPL till date in the Under 14 and Under 16 categories.

“Football in India has a promising future indeed, as has been proven by the recent success of the Indian Under 20 brigade at the COTIF Cup in Valencia where they beat champions Argentina," said Percy Chowdhary who is the director at Rustomjee.
