Subash helps Neroca ease past Lajong
Lajong will now travel to New Delhi to take on young Arrows on the only Boxing Day fixture while Neroca FC will host East Bengal on December 30.
New Delhi: Subash Singh struck the match’s solitary goal as debutants Neroca FC got the better of Shillong Lajong FC 1-0 in their I-League match in Shillong on Saturday. Subash struck seven minutes from the end of regulation time.
The first half of the game saw with a lot of action.
The teams were on attack and tried to find gaps regularly. Neroca played with confidence and appeared sharp in attack.
Lajong too created several chances. They got a golden opportunity when Aimen Saleh Abdullah AL-Hagri found himself in a favourable position but failed to get the scoreboard moving. Gradually, Neroca took control of the proceedings but the strong Lajong defence kept them at bay.
In the second half, an unmarked Subash headed a brilliant cross from Pritam Singh home to leave Lajong goalkeeper stranded in the 83rd minute to hand his team full points.
Neroca FC, on 10 points from five matches, thus leapfrogged Lajong to the third spot. The Meghalaya-based side have bagged equal points having played one match extra.
