Zulpikar Maimaitali bullish about his chances
Things are heating up with just a day to go as the Battleground Asia' will take place at National Sports Club of India.
Mumbai: “I will meet bigger opponents than Vijender”, were the words spoken by Chinese boxer Zulpikar Maimaitali ahead of his bout with the Indian pro-boxer Vijender Singh. Things are heating up with just a day to go as the ‘Battleground Asia’ will take place at National Sports Club of India.
Zulpikar is a southpaw, which means a left-handed boxer who leads with the right hand. He feels that this gives him the edge over Vijender as he expresses, “Top fighters of the world are southpaws and I think it is a good advantage, I am well prepared for the fight and I will make sure I come out with a positive result.”
Asked about the pressure playing away from home, Zulpikar did not look troubled at all. “It is common to fight in a foreign country, this is not my first time away from home and if Vijender wants to feel the same way, he is welcomed in China,” quipped the Chinese.
“Winning this fight will definitely make me hero when I return and the only advantage that Vijender has is being at home,” he adds. Vijender had been training for a long time in Manchester for this fight. In the coming fight, the two boxers will put their respective WBO titles at stake.
