New Delhi: Dabang Mumbai climbed to the top of table yet again, defeating hosts Kalinga Lancers 5-2 in their Hockey India League Season 5 match in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

This was Mumbai’s first away win this season and they now have 23 points from seven matches. Kalinga were pipped to the second spot with 20 points after as many games.

After a barren first quarter, Mumbai turned up the heat and drag-flicker Hamanpreet Singh put the hosts ahead in the 23rd minute. Kalinga were left to play catch up and were found wanting on the lack of finishing touches.

Mumbai, on the other hand, pressed hard and strikes from Florian Fuchs (31st) and junior India striker Gurjant Singh (53rd) ensured the team were well and truly on their way to a big win.

Kalinga increased the intensity of their attacks and were rewarded when Australia’s Glenn Turner pulled one back three minutes from the hooter, but the deficit was too wide to cover.
