GCH, MHC book berths in knockout rounds
Garware, claimed the top spot on the basis of a better frames difference (14-6 win-loss) as compared to the Malabar Hill side's (14-10).
GCH ‘Cue Ball Artists’ (Garware Club House) and MHC ‘Matka Kings’ (Malabar Hill Club), both booked their berths for the knockout phase (round of 32) of the Otters Club-Mumbai Snooker League (MSL) – 2017, conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Maharashtra (BSAM).
Both Garware Club and Malabar Hill Club completed their matches in Section-C and finished with four wins and accumulated an identical number of nine points each, which included a bonus point. Garware, claimed the top spot on the basis of a better frames difference (14-6 win-loss) as compared to the Malabar Hill side’s (14-10).
In their final round of matches, Garware lost the away tie 1-3 to MbPT Sports ‘Dabangs’ (Mumbai Port Trusts Sports), but they dominated the home tie, winning 3-0.
The ‘Matka Kings’ also traded the home and away matches with Willingdon ‘Wizards’ (Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana). The Malabar Hill Club riding on a gritty performance from Manav Panchal, who won both his matches including the decider, managed to snatch a close 3-2 win in the away match. But in home match the Malabar Hill cueists and Panchal were not able to get going and failed to capitalise on the home advantage and went down fighting 2-3 to the Willingdon side.
MIG ‘Monks’ (MIG Club) and KG ‘G.S.T.’ (Khar Gymkhana) also advance to the next round from Section-E.
