Save food run on Sunday
The 35 kilometre run that will be flagged off at 7 am from Nariman Point.
Arjuna and Dronacharya award winner Sanjiva Singh and Rio Olympics participant in Rowing, Dattu Baban Bhoknal, will lead ‘Indo Torch Run’ to create awareness for “Zero Waste of Food” on Sunday here.
The 35 kilometre run that will be flagged off at 7 am from Nariman Point and will cover the main spots like Girgaon Chowpati, Haji Ali, Worli Seaface, Mayor Bungalow, Sion Hospital, Dadar TT, Lalbaug, Jijamata Udhyan and Hutatma Chowk by 11.30 am. A Dream Run will be of four kilometres from Nariman Point to Girgaon Chowpati.
Well-trained professional runners will take part in this run in couples; one runner will hold the torch and the other will carry the National Flag. Hutatma Chowk, which has a statue of people sacrificing their lives for the United Maharashtra movement, will be the place where the Torch will be handed over to an office bearer of the Government. Common people can also participate in the four-kilometre run along with runners.
Along with “Indo Torch Run” 10 prominent cities of Maharashtra and prime international destinations will have many more events on spreading awareness about curbing food wastage. Over 250 educational institutes affiliated to Mumbai University will conduct poster competition and debate on “Zero Waste of Food”. Thus, over thousands of students will be joining this movement. Amit Jathar, president, Morpheus Creations India is the main organiser of ‘Indo Torch Run’. The co-organisers of the event are Shivaji Park Gymkhana and MS-CIT.
