Karkera sails past Rehman to advance into third round

Saumil Karkera of Garware Club House mixed caution with aggression and with steady pots cruised to a 4-0 win against Abdur Rehman of Islam Gymkhana in best-of-7 frames second round match of the ECC All India Open 6-Red Snooker Tournament. The Garware Club cueist Karkera was in complete control and raced to 43-36, 37-2, 32-12 and 34-22 victory.

Meanwhile home contenders, Farhad Tengra and Mahesh Jagdale recorded contrasting victories to also advance to the third round.

ECC player Tengra had quite a fight on hand before getting the better of Khar Gymkhana’s youngster Harmehr Mago in a match that went the distance.

Tengra recovered after losing the first two frame and with a 31 break won the third before pocketing the next two frames to nose ahead at 3-2. Harmehr managed to win the sixth to force the decider.

The final frame was a close affair before the experienced Tengra managed to clinch to secure a satisfying 18-29, 29-36,  37-33, 45-15, 35-22, 1-28 and 38-25 verdict.

In contrast, Jagdale was all fired up and hardly gave his opponent Jigish Choksi of NSCI much of a chance and quickly charged to 4-0 win with the frame scores reading 40-12, 42-8, 48-3, and 57-12.
