Hockey Pro League to begin in 2019
The announcement follows a candidate evaluation process, which saw 13 men's and 12 women's applications.
New Delhi: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) on Sunday announced a unique global international team sport league — the Hockey Pro League, which will get under way in January 2019.
Part of FIH’s Hockey Revolution, the league will see nine best men’s and women’s teams from across the globe face each other, both at home and away every year. The fixtures will take place week in and week out, from January to June.
The men’s events will feature Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, India, Holland, New Zealand and Pakistan, the latter playing their home matches in Scotland.
The women’s teams were confirmed as Argentina, Australia, China, Great Britain, Germany, India, Netherlands, New Zealand and USA.
