Big purse on offer for midnight run

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Midnight Marathon which is in its tenth edition is all set to be held in the city on December 10.
In an event held on Tuesday, Olympic bronze-medallist Mary Kom was announced as the event ambassador. The Padma Bhushan awardee unveiled the theme for upcoming edition, i.e. “Run for Happy Schools”.
The event will include several categories viz full marathon, ola half marathon, Open 10K Run, 5K IT City fun run, Airbus corporate relay and community relay. The run which will be held on December 10 will be held at KTPO in Whitefield with the winner set to walk away with a whopping Rs 12 lakhs.
Mary Kom, who has been associated with the event over the years, said, “I feel extremely proud top be associated with the event and I would love to actually take part in it and run. It is unique as it’s the only midnight run in the country and also for me running is very important always has been, though my profession is different.”
The midnight run, which is a one-of a kind event will have a festive feel to it with live bands, food stalls and flea markets entertaining the crowd.
