MSSA to upgrade sports facilities
Astroturf grounds and better facilities in schools await the upcoming hopefuls in the field of sports in Mumbai.
Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) is looking to give a face-lift to its facilities within a couple of years, as the association will be celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2018. MSSA has taken two major initiatives the first one being to change the experience for the schools and its athletes that come under its purview, and the other being installation of AstroTurf.
MSSA is aiming to change the dynamics of sports in the city by giving quality facilities to the schools. For this cause, the association has redone their tennis court and the basketball court. The major plans of installing the Astroturf will start this year. While revealing his plans for the refurbishment, Fr Jude Rodrigues said, “We want to give the players and their parents a great experience. I will be flying down to Hong Kong to look for AstroTurf that we will be installing in the main MSSA grounds. We are also planning to create a mini-stadium that will be used for football, kabaddi and judo.”
MSSA has over 350 schools under its jurisdiction and conducts tournaments in 20 different disciplines of Sports for Boys and Girls between 6 years and 16 years of age. The organisation has now decided to go paperless with its registrations for which it has signed a three-year contract with an online sports aggregator KheloMore to simplify the paperwork and the records.
