Mumbai: India nearly faced isolation in February from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after VISAs were denied to three Pakistan sportsmen ahead of the Shooting World Cup in Delhi. The organisation blamed India for violating the principles of non-discrimination.

But on Tuesday, the government ensured the IOC that VISAs will now be granted to sportspersons from every country without prejudice. This includes Pakistan, and hence, sportspersons from the country will now be able to freely compete in international events held in India.

India can now move forward with bidding for hosting rights to various international sporting events, like the 2032 Olympics. India had also pitched hosting the 2026 Youth Olympics, while the Indian Olympic Association is trying to bring the 2030 Asian Games to India.
