New Delhi: Golfer Shiv Kapur, who got in as a sponsor’s invite, made a great a start with a five-under 67 that placed him tied sixth at the BMW International Open in Munich.

Kapur, who is coming off some good results including a win and second place finish on the Asian Tour, had seven birdies including five on the back nine.

Jeev Milkha Singh though struggled to four-over 76 that included two double bogeys.

Australia’s Wade Ormsby fired a blemish-free 64 to take the first round lead.

This season, Kapur has made two cuts on European Tour events, one of them in Sweden, and the other at the Malaysian Championships. He missed cuts at Golf Sixes in Australia and the Hero Indian Open.

Disappointing start by Lahiri
It was not the kind of return to action that Anriban Lahiri was looking for as he carded a three-over 73 in the opening round of the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, USA.

Former world no. 1 Jordan Spieth made eight birdies against just one bogey to card seven-under 63 to take a one-stroke lead. Lahiri is lying way down and will need a strong second round to make the cut as 75 players are under-par.
