PV Sindhu defeats Sun Yu to reach semifinal of BWF World Badminton C'ship

Earlier in the day, Kidambi Srikanth crashed out of the tournament after suffering a shock defeat to top seed Son Wan Ho.

Glasgow: PV Sindhu on Friday entered the semifinals of the BWF World  Badminton Championships after completing a 21-14, 21-9 over  Sun Yu of China.It was the Indian all throughout the match as she took an 8-4 lead in the first set, and eventually went on to take the game 21-14 in just 19 minutes.

The second game, too, was dominated by Sindhu, as she took an early 4-0 lead, and went on to seal the match 21-9. Earlier in the match, it was unforced errors from her Chinese opponent that gave Sindhu the advantage and seal a comfortable win. 

  Earlier in the day, Kidambi Srikanth crashed out of the tournament after suffering a shock defeat to top seed Son Wan Ho of South Korea, who won the match 21-1 21-18.

   PV Sindhu will now face defending junior world champion Chen Yufei in the semifinal.
