Dutee Chand recently made headlines as she disclosed that she's in a same-sex relationship.

Ace sprinter Dutee Chand has grabbed the headlines yet again by expressing her desire to join politics. Dutee has always been interested in politics and may make a foray into it in future, said Chand through her official Twitter account.

"I have always wanted to join politics since childhood. My family has also been involved in grassroots politics, with my mother being the Sarpanch of our village," Dutee posted on her Twitter.

"If I will get an offer from any political party then I will definitely join politics as it is a better platform to serve the people as an administrator," said the 23-year-old.

Earlier this year, Dutee openly announced that she was in a same-sex relationship.

The Odisha runner already has many accolades under her belt. Dutee is the first Indian woman track and field athlete to clinch a gold medal in the 100 metres race in the World University Games in July 2019. She won a silver medal each in 100m and 200m in the 2018 Asian Games.

Dutee also won a silver medal each in 100m and 200m in the 2018 Asian Games.

"Of course my first priority is sports and winning medals in the Tokyo Olympics next year. I am heading for World Athletics Championship in Doha, Qatar tomorrow and will try my best to win medals and improve my timing," Dutee said.
