Vignesh prevails over Rupin, wins youth boys final

Vignesh Khopade also won the best boxer award.

Vignesh Khopade from Dadar’s Veer Savarkar’s Academy defeated Rupin Hoode, from  Sports Authority of India (Kandivali)  in a gruelling three-round final to clinch gold  in the youth boys (69-75 kg) boxing contest  on the final day of the 42nd Uttar Mumbai Krida Mahotsav-2017  Sports Fiesta, at Yuvak Krida Mandal ground, near Poinsur Gymkhana. He later received the best boxer award.

Among others to figure prominently were girls Tirtha Deolekar and Shreya  Sawant, both of Dahisar Boxing Academy, who claimed the honours in the Cub-class 42-44 kg  and Cub class 40-42 kg section respectively. In fact, Tirtha also bagged the ‘Most Promising Boxer’ award.

Dadar’s  KD’s  Boxing Academy with an aggregate of 58 points took the runners-up trophy.
